A Chinese man was sentenced to seven years in jail for selling counterfeit luxury furniture online, authorities say

A Chinese-origin man was found guilty of selling counterfeit Chinese table lamps and lamps for sale online, India’s Enforcement Directorate said on Thursday.

The court heard on Thursday that the accused, who was aged in his early 20s, sold the items for more than $300,000 in cash and received a one-year jail term.

The accused sold the lamps to a number of people and then used the proceeds to buy more luxury goods, including a customised table lamp and a red and white table lamp with a black and gold trim, it said.

He had also received a four-year sentence for selling the lamps online, the Enforcement Directorate added.
